Which Test Should I Choose?
-Rapid Antigen: If you do not have any COVID-19 symptoms AND have not had contact with anyone who is known or suspected to have COVID-19, then this is the recommended test for you. This test is best for screening purposes. Results within 30 minutes. We do not accept insurance for these tests.
-Laboratory PCR: If you have COVID-19 symptoms, have come in contact with someone who is known or suspected to have COVID-19, or have been instructed by your healthcare provider to get a laboratory PCR test, then this is the recommended test for you. This test is the most accurate and delivers definitive results. This is the test most travelers need to do before their flight, and students need to do for school. To receive your results on the same day, you must test no later than 10:30AM. Please note that next-day results do not apply to tests done on the weekend. In general, for Saturday tests, results will be available on Monday, while for Sunday tests, results will be available on Tuesday. You are responsible for paying the listed price for this test regardless of if you use your insurance or not.

-Rapid PCR Test: If you have COVID-19 symptoms, have come in contact with someone who is known or suspected to have COVID-19, or want highly accurate results as soon as possible, then this is the recommended test for you. This is the test most travelers need to do before their flight, and students need to do for school. This test delivers extremely accurate results with a quick turnaround. Results within 1 hour. We do not accept insurance for these tests.

ALWAYS Rx Pharmacy - COVID-19 Testing

Rapid antigen and molecular amplification tests
Tests are performed in our pharmacy using state-of-the-art testing devices and techniques. These tests are accurate and are recommended for anyone who wants their results as soon as possible.

Laboratory PCR tests
Results are usually available the next day; the only exception to that is for PCR tests that are done on Saturdays, in which case the results will be available on the following Monday. This test is the most definitive and is recommended to anyone who wants the most accurate results. See below for a list of insurances that are accepted.

What to Expect from Your Appointment
-Please arrive at the exact time of your appointment, or a few minutes before. If you are running late, then please let us know as soon as possible.
-Feel free to park in our customer parking in the back of the building.
-At the time of your appointment, drive-up to our designated drive-thru spaces in front of our pharmacy on La Grange Ave. Give us a call when you're outside and one of our pharmacy staff will come out to greet you. You can also walk into the pharmacy.
-Have your driver’s license or picture ID ready so we can verify your identity and appointment. Once verified, we will provide you with a nasal swab which you will use to collect your nasal sample for the test (see detailed instructions below).
-After swabbing, our pharmacy staff will retrieve the sample.
-At this point, you are done and can leave. We will test your nasal sample and will inform you of the results as soon as they are available.

Swabbing Instructions:
Carefully insert the swab into one of your nostrils until resistance is met at the level of the turbinates (about 1 inch into the nostril). Using gentle rotation, rotate the swab 5 times against your nasal walls, and then slowly remove the swab from your nostril. Make sure it does not touch anything. Using the same swab, repeat the process in your other nostril. If at any point you experience the urge to sneeze, then please close your window as much as possible (if in the care) and turn your head away from our pharmacy staff.
-Even though you will be swabbing yourself, our pharmacy staff will be there to supervise the process, answer questions, and ensure the sample collection is done correctly. If you'd like, our pharmacy staff can swab you as well.

COVID-19 Testing Frequently Asked Questions

What are the primary symptoms of COVID-19?

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people with COVID-19 have had a wide range of symptoms reported – ranging from mild symptoms to severe illness. Symptoms may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. People with these symptoms may have COVID-19:

Cough
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
Fever
Chills
Muscle pain
Sore throat
New loss of taste or smell

This list is not all possible symptoms. Other less common symptoms have been reported, including gastrointestinal symptoms like nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea.

What should I do if I'm experiencing severe symptoms?

If you or a family member are experiencing severe symptoms, please call your doctor. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911.

Am I required to show ID?

Yes. Bring a form of personal identification to your test. This helps ensure that your test results are matched to the right person. Your identity and your test results are protected by federal law and will not be shared with any other agencies for purposes of law enforcement or immigration.

Is the test invasive?

No. We use a painless nasal swab that is inserted about 1 inch into each nostril. You will collect your nasal sample yourself under our supervision.

Is the test accurate?

PCR and rapid molecular tests are typically highly accurate and usually do not need to be repeated.

Rapid antigen tests results are usually highly accurate, but a negative result may need to be confirmed with a PCR test.

When do I need to arrive for my appointment?

How long will the test take?

The testing process should not take more than 10 minutes.
